Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about Timo and the Pro trial.

What is Timo?

Timo is persistent memory for your AI assistant. Your personal space talks to your AI client (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Grok) over the standard MCP protocol, and all data stays as Markdown files readable even without Timo.

What is the 15-day Pro trial?

15 days of the real product, not a stripped-down preview. All Pro features are enabled from day one: personal space, smart search, export, dedicated MCP connection. No card required at signup.

What happens after the 15-day trial?

If you don't add a payment method by the deadline, the account is suspended for 7 days. During suspension you can still log in to export your space or add a payment method. Once the 7 days of suspension pass with no action, the account is deleted.

Can I add a payment method during the trial?

Yes, at any time from the account area. Adding a payment method during the trial guarantees continuity with no interruption when the 15 days end.

Can I export my space?

Always. During the trial, during the 7-day suspension, always. The export produces a ZIP archive of Markdown files with the structure of your space. Your data stays yours, in a readable format.

Can I use Obsidian with Timo?

Yes. Timo is designed to sit alongside Obsidian, not to replace it. The Timo space is a folder of Markdown files: the same folder can be opened in Obsidian for direct editing, while Timo exposes it to your AI client over MCP.

Which AI clients are supported?

Claude (desktop and web), ChatGPT (web with MCP connectors), Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Grok, and any other client that implements the standard MCP protocol.

Is my MCP token safe?

The token is generated for your account, shown only to you at first access, and should only be shared with your AI client. If you suspect unauthorized use, you can regenerate it from the account area: the old token is invalidated immediately.

How does account deletion work?

Automatic after 7 days of suspension (post-trial without payment), or on demand: you can request immediate deletion from the account area. Deletion is permanent and removes both the account and the space from our servers, in about 30 seconds, with no hidden copies.

MCP isn't connecting to my client. What do I do?

Check that endpoint and token are copied correctly, with no spaces at the start or end. In the prompt library there's a specific troubleshooting guide for Claude and ChatGPT that walks you through step by step.

What is MCP / Model Context Protocol?

MCP is an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2024 that lets AI connect to external data sources and tools. It has become the industry's de facto standard: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf and many other AIs support it. Timo uses it to offer the same memory to all your compatible AIs.

How do I add Timo to Claude Desktop?

Setup takes a few minutes from Claude Desktop settings. Go to the Setup page for the dedicated guide: there's also a prompt you can copy directly into Claude to be guided step by step inside its interface.

Does Timo work with Cursor, Windsurf and other IDEs?

Yes. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Grok and any other AI that speaks MCP are supported. For each one there's a dedicated guide on the Setup page, with copy-paste prompts to paste into your AI.

Where is my data physically hosted?

In Europe, on Timo servers. Every user has a reserved, isolated instance dedicated only to their space: no shared databases, no cross-access. All backup, encryption and protection procedures are applied for every instance, in the same way.

Is my AI key safe?

Yes. The key for your AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, etc.) stays in your AI client: you never send it to Timo. It's your AI that calls the provider with your account, Timo never sees that key.

Can I delete the account before the 15 days are up?

Yes, at any time from the user area. Deletion is immediate and permanent: account and space are removed with no hidden copies, in about 30 seconds.

Does Timo work offline?

Using Timo requires an internet connection (your AI talks to Timo over the internet). The export of your space, on the other hand, is a Markdown file you open offline from any text editor or notes app: your data stays readable even without Timo and without a connection.

How many notes can I save?

There is no limit on the number of notes: the limit is total storage. Pro Lite includes 5 GB, Pro includes 50 GB. In Markdown that means tens of thousands of notes, even with attached images.
