Which tool to choose
You need two things, both written by you. A style sheet: three or four clear rules on tone, sentence length, level of formality, banned words. And two or three samples of your real texts, pasted in as an example of voice. Put them in the personal instructions if you want them to always apply, or at the start of the individual chat for a specific job. Automatic memory isn't enough to capture a style: voice is taught with concrete examples, not by hoping the AI absorbs it as you talk.
How to do it
- Write a short style sheet: tone, sentence length, formality, words to use and to avoid.
- Paste in two or three samples of things you've already written, saying "this is my voice."
- Ask the AI to write "in this style" and read the result.
- Correct by pointing out what's off ("too formal," "sentences too long") and update the sheet with the rule that was missing.
A concrete example
Paolo writes posts for his business and wants a direct, ironic tone, with short sentences. He put a sheet in the instructions — short sentences, no big words, a joke now and then, never start with "In today's world" — and pasted in two of his successful posts. Since then, when he asks the AI to draft a post, the text comes out already lean and ironic, and all he has to do is polish it. Before, he got bloated, impersonal paragraphs; now he recognizes his own voice at first glance.
When it does NOT work (and how to fix it)
If the text still sounds "like AI"
Usually the samples are missing. A sheet of rules helps, but it's the real example that makes the difference: without one of your texts in front of it, the AI falls back on its average tone. Paste in a couple of things you've written and like, and the result changes right away.
If the style holds at first and then gets lost
In long chats the AI tends to drift back to its default tone. When you notice it, just call it back: "remember my voice, short and direct sentences." For important jobs, it's best to put the sheet back at the top every time you reopen.
If you have several different voices
It happens: one tone for clients, one for social, one for friends. Keep one sheet for each voice and tell the AI which one you're using today. Mixing them into a single sheet produces a hybrid tone that's none of yours.
A tip from someone who really uses it
Teach the style with examples, not with adjectives. "Write in an engaging way" tells the AI nothing: engaging for you and for someone else are different things. One of your pasted paragraphs, instead, shows in concrete terms the rhythm, the words, the breath of the sentences. Collect two or three of your best texts and keep them ready as voice samples: they're worth more than a thousand descriptive instructions. The AI doesn't understand how you want to sound, but it imitates very well an example it has in front of it.

How many samples do I need?
Two or three short but representative texts are enough. Better a few examples that really resemble you than many dashed off: the AI will imitate what it sees, so choose pieces you're happy to read.
Can I have the AI analyze my style?
Yes: paste in some of your writing and ask it to describe your style in a few rules. That description, corrected by you, becomes the first draft of your style sheet.
Does the style apply to all languages?
Partly. Tone and attitude transfer, but word choices are tied to the language: if you also write in another language, it's best to have a sample in that one too, because your voice sounds different there.
Is it enough to say "write like me" for the AI to use my voice?
No, and it's the request that disappoints the most. The AI doesn't know how you write: without examples in front of it, "write like me" is an empty instruction, and it falls back on its average tone, the one you recognize at once as artificial. Voice is conveyed by showing it: a sheet of a few rules and a couple of your real texts. Whoever just asks "like me" keeps receiving the usual impersonal mush and wondering why it doesn't work; whoever pastes in their own samples sees the AI write, at last, something that sounds like theirs.
